TECHNOLOGY UPDATE

The XT250 Material Identificaton System from XStream Systems has few moving parts and high reliability. In short, the technology works like this:

1.) An X-ray beam is generated by a source,

2.) A primary collimator is used to control the beam,

3.) The beam passes through the sample material,

4.) The beam is diffracted when passed through the sample and a secondary collimator allows a key portion of the beam to hit an energy dispersive detector,

5.) A Material Recognition Software Engine (MRSE) is used to identify the unique structure.
